Commander's Column

It was great to have 14 out of the 15 Baseball players and two coaches at the Pizza Pie Cafe to celebrate their wins for this 2017 year.   We also had 22 members and parents with us. The trophy will be located at the Legion for all to see.

On Sept. 15 Post 90 will have a shot program at the Southern Utah Veterans Home at 10:30 a.m. for POW/MIA.   Sept. 16 is American Legion day at Washington City Park from 10-2p.   Open to public for the American Legion to showcase what programs that are sponsored by American Legion. JROTC, Scouts, Americanism, Poppies, Christmas for Veterans and Soldiers, Boys and Girls State with a closing of the Flag disposal for a scout member to receive his Eagle. Information will also feature American Legion, Auxiliary, SAL, American Legion Riders. Food and drinks will also be available to purchase.

The mayors of the local cities have been invited to speak during the day. Please encourage everyone that you know to come out and find out what the American Legion does within the community and for our youth. If you have not gone online or mailed in your membership dues for the membership year 2017-2018 please consider doing so now. Thanks to those who have done so, you are making our jobs easier with your prompt responses.

Sept. 15: POW-MIA Memorial at SUVH at 10:30am Post 90. Post 100, Hurricane is also having a memorial for the community

Sept. 16: AMERICAN LEGION DAY at Washington City Park. Program is from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This will be a great event!

Sept. 27: Post 90 General Meeting/Dinner at Legion Hall. Starts at 6 pm. As this is the first cook off where any item that you want to enter for judging must be made with Chicken. Can be a salad, main dish, vegetable, or desert. ALL ENTRIES must arrive not later than 5:45 pm to allow for judging and keep the food warm or cold.
